The CIF value of June imports for this year has increased by 14 percent compared to last year June.
MVR 2.4 billion worth of good was imported to the country in June 2015. The figure is at MVR 2.8 billion this June.
Earnings to Customs from import duties and other fees had increased by 11 percent in the same period. The state had earned MVR 183.8 million last June; the figure was at MVR 165.5 million in June 2015.
Exports in the same period had dipped by 24 percent. Last year June goods and services worth MVR 288.6 million was exported, this year the exports were at MVR 218.4 million.
Import duties had earned MVR 1.20 billion at the mid-year mark. This is an increment of 5 percent compared to last year.
