Opposition figures, including MDP, will hold a rally tonight from their Party house from 2100 hrs onward.
MDP said in a press conference that the rally was not an anti-Government one, but one to raise public concerns to the Government.
The Party said that right to assembly was a basic right in the Constitution and that no action can be taken against this basic tenet. The Party called on all Police officers not to follow any command that negates this right. MDP said they will file suit against those Police officers who followed the commands that infringed on this right.
MDP said though they had filed many of these cases, there were no Independent Institutions to review these cases. They said there will be a day when the cases are actually reviewed, adding that it was better for Police officers not to follow them rather than apologizing for them later on.
