India have stated that the Indian External Affairs Ministry issued statements about Maldives after holding discussions with the government.
A senior official of the Indian government told the Indian media that the Indian Ambassador to Maldives Akhilesh Mishra met with Maldivian Foreign Secretory Ahmed Sareer to present India’s concerns.
“India was not only concerned when the state of emergency was extended for 30 days. It is a serious issue and that is why we had to use strong language. When our wives and children do something wrong, we angry not because we don’t love them but because we love them” said the official.
The Indian Embassy in Maldives has so far not stated anything regarding the on going political crisis. However the External Affairs Ministry issued a statement just two hours after the Indian Ambassador met with Maldivian Foreign Secretory.
