Government of Maldives invites the opposition to start dialogue without any pre-conditions
Government of the Maldives has invited the opposition parties to start dialogue without any pre-conditions.

Fisheries Minister Dr.Muhammad Shainee tweeted today saying that the government invites the opposition to talk with the government, but without any pre-conditions. Dr.Shainee said that even the EU statement highlighted the importance of dialogue.

Meanwhile the opposition has presented the government with some conditions. They stated that an international organization such as the UN should mediate the talks and the invitation sent to UN by the opposition to mediate has been accepted by the UN. However, UN stated that President Yameen informed UN that the government does not want UN to mediate at the moment.
The opposition says that they will not conduct any talks with the government without an international mediator.

Furthermore they stated that they will also not talk with the government until the government implements the court order of 1st February. EU, UN and many countries have called Maldives to implement the court order.
