Prominent Lawyer Hussein Shameem have said that if police speaks about different people on media, then the lawyers of those people can speak on media in their defence.
Shameem said that speaking during the trial and speaking on the media are two different things and hence if their clients are treated in a certain way then the lawyers can also act similarly.
Shameem said that even though Police Spokesperson Shifan said that Shameem committed a crime under a certain legal act, he did not commit any such crimes. “Now the police are worried about a thing they should not worried about. Supreme Court previously decided that it is the court which will take action against them.
Shameem said that these things happen because officers do not have the courage to face lawyers and media and because they force junior officers to read written statements.
“I taught law. I don’t want to teach law through the media. If they want I can give them lessons in law. This happened because people who do not understand law reads statements written by others” said Shameem.
