Former President Maumoon’s legal team have stated that he has not been questioned since he was detained and that he was just moved from one detention center to the other. Maumoon was arrested after the government announced a state of emergency on 5th February.
Maumoon Hameem the lawyer of Maumoon said that if police had any evidence they should question Maumoon and send the case to the PG. He said that he welcomes it.
“However now, the police just gets on media and conducts the investigation on media. They do not reveal any evidence which they claim to have. That is because they don’t have anything” said Maumoon.
In addition he said that now ACC is trying to question Maumoon regarding the audit reports released in 2007. He said that it is questionable that they are trying to investigate a matter which is older than 10 years.
Lawyers of Nadheem also said that he has not been questioned either and it was the same for Faaris Maumoon. Their lawyers said that none of them committed any crimes and that the allegations made by the government are false.
