The constitution does not allow the president to annul the verdicts of the Supreme Court : Sameer
Secretary General of JP Ahmed Sameer has said that the President cannot annul verdicts of the Supreme Court according to the constitution.

Sameer said that the constitution does not state that the President has the authority to annul any Supreme Court verdicts. He said that if this fact is distorted then it is a huge problem and that the army and the police should learn this. “The president is mandated to rule in accordance with the constitution. There are three separate state institutions and the president should ensure that they are able to function impartially” said Sameer.

He said that this is what was written in the constitution. He said that the constitution does not say that the Chief Justice should seek advice from the president before issuing a verdict. He said that the Supreme Court, the parliament and the president should also work in accordance with the constitution.
