MP Ameeth have said that lawyers are now afraid of working on political cases and that he also couldn’t get a lawyer to represent him.
He said that the police are intimidating lawyers who represent politicians and do things like confiscating their mobile phones. He said because of these many lawyers are worried and refuses to take cases of politicians.
So far police confiscated mobile phones of two lawyers without a court order. Lawyers say that confiscating their phone hinders their work.
