Chairperson of MDP Hassan Latheef have said that the government will have to implement the Supreme Court order of 1st February.
Hassan Latheef said that when MDP asked people who are against the government’s decision not to implement the Supreme Court verdict, to come out to Majeedhee Magu hundreds have shown up and filled the streets. He said that even though the police is facing the protestors with fore, they refuse to backdown and it shows how the people are worried.
Protestors are saying that they took to the streets because the way the government interpret things and the people interpret things are different.
“So far we have been listening to what government has been saying. However this is to do with how the government is interpreting a Supreme Court order written in Dhivehi. The whole world knows it. That is why EU also issued the statement in Maldives. However even if it’s in Dhivehi, only if they understand what it means, then only things will be better” said someone.
