MP Abdullah Shahid and MP Latheef who were arrested during the protests held yesterday calling to implement the Supreme Court verdict of 1st February, has been released.
However, Abdullah Riyaz the deputy leader of JP who was arrested has not been released saying that he is being detained under the authorities granted under state of emergency. MDP stated that the country is in a state of fear because personal belongings of detainees such as mobile phone and clothes are confiscated.
According to lawyer Hisaan Hussein the police should determine the reason of a person’s arrest before arresting the person and that it cannot be decided after the arrest.
