PPM submits a bill for an anti-defection law
Ruling party PPM has submitted a bill for an anti-defection law to the parliament today. The bill if passed as a law, will penalize parliament members who cross floors by stripping them of parliament membership.

The bill was presented to the parliament by Leader of PPM PG group, Ahmed Nihaan Hassan Manik. Previously, the Supreme Court issued a ruling which says that parliament members will lose their seats if they cross floors however on 1st February 2018, the court revoked the ruling. However the court issued another ruling asking to delay the implementation of that verdict.

The bill proposed by Nihan includes the procedure to conduct bi-elections if a seat becomes vacant due to the stripping off of membership from MPs who cross the floor.
