Political prisoners in Maldivian prisons are still not able to meet with their family according to their wives.
Starting from 1st February they have not been able to meet their families. Wives of colonel Nazim, Sheikh Imran, Ahmed Adeeb, and Muhsin went to meet officials of Maldives Correctional Service regarding this matter.
Colonel Nazim’s wife Afaaf said that today they went to Corrections because they did not get an answer even though they requested for information from Commissioner of Prisons Shihan. “ We could not meet the commissioner even today and instead met Superintendent Ibrahim Mohamed Didi. That is not what we wanted but since there was no other way we met him” said Afaaf
We told them that if we are not allowed to meet, at least to let them meet their kids. He said that he will discuss with the commissioner and give an answer” said Afaaf.
The government said that the state of emergency is enforced on those who instigated the coup only, but the government did not explain how these 4 people are involved in the coup. However they are not allowed to meet with their family members since then.
