Deputy Leader of JP, Abdullah Riyaz who was arrested under state of emergency, has been given 5 days to appoint a lawyer by the Criminal Court.
A hearing of Riyaz’s case was held in the Criminal Court at 1330 hours. It is not clear what Riyaz is being charged of. When Riyaz requested for a lawyer in today’s hearing, the court gave him 5 days to appoint a lawyer and has been taken to Dhoonidhoo after the hearing.
Riyaz is among the many senior politicians that has been arrested after the government announced a state of emergency on 5th February.
