Fisheries Ministry has warned fishing vessels not to transport protestors to Male’. A statement issued by the ministry states that if they do that, then their licenses will be revoked.
The statement further says that, they have received information that fishing vessels in the Maldives are planning to transport protestors to Male’ and warned not to do it. In addition the statement says that the fisheries act allows the ministry to take action against fishing vessels which are used in illegal activities.
The government describes the opposition protests as an illegal movement to over throw the government. However the opposition parties say that their activities are lawful and that they want the Supreme Court order of 1st February to be implemented. Meanwhile the opposition is planning a massive protest for the coming Friday and are brining people from all over the Maldives.
