Maldivian opposition parties have decided to continue protests even tonight.
In a press conference held by the opposition tonight, the Chairperson of MDP, Hassan Latheef said that the opposition wants to implement the Supreme Court order of 1st February and to free all political prisoners. In addition he said that they want the government to function in accordance with the law and to start dialogue with the government.
They said that the people will continue to protest until these objectives are achieved.
“We call to allow the parliament to function properly. We call to free the judges and to allow courts to function impartially” said Hassan Latheef.
Hassan Latheef said that they were successful in last night’s protest as well. He said that the biggest success was getting record number of people to protest despite the intimidation by the government.
