First resort of Hdh Atoll opens in Hondaafushi.

The first resort of Hdh Atoll has been opened at Hondaafushi. The name of the resort is Hondaafushi Island Resort.

The resort was developed by Three A company, a prominent company in the Maldivian tourism industry. The resort has 160 beds and 80 rooms in total. The company aims to add 100 new rooms per year and to develop a 400 room resort within 5 years.
The government leased the island to 3 A company for resort development in 2006. According to the company they plan to spend 150 million dollars for the development of the resort.

Even now the company operates 4 resorts in Maldives. They are Medhufushi Island Resort, Filitheyo Island Resort, Bathala Island Resort and Zithaaly Maldives Resort.

Prior to the opening of Hondaafushi Resort, Hdh Atoll was the only atoll in the Maldives without a resort.
