Maldives Police Service to introduce “environment police”
Maldives Police Service in association with the Environment Ministry has decided to introduce environment police as part of the ongoing effort to keep Maldives clean.

In a ceremony held at Environment Ministry, Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim signed an agreement with Maldives Police Service. Acting Commissioner of Police Abdullah Nawaz signed the agreement on behalf of MPS.

Under this agreement, police will monitor those who illegally dump waste in Male’. In addition, the police will also stop those who transport garbage on bicycles and also take action against those who uses Wamco zones for parking.

“This is a long term plan. Soon we will introduce environment police to other islands as well” said Acting CP Nawaz.
