Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed’s trial is being conducted in a procedure that was not followed even during the time of Ibn Batuta : Lawyers
Lawyers of Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed have stated that the judge presiding over his case is conducting the trial in a procedure that was not followed even during the time of Ibn Batua.

Speaking to the media after the trial, Abdullah Saeed’s lawyer Husnuh Suood said that since humans started conducting trials, trials are conducted in a manner that is pre-determined.
Suood said that the Chief Justice is being charged under article 533 of the constitution and that he is being charged with obstruction of the official duties of the state.

Suood said that the trial cannot be conducted without any procedures for the trial. He said that however the judge said that the case can be continued even without any written procedures and also said that the trial will be conducted as he wishes.

“We told him that the trial cannot be conducted without any written procedures based on the article 142. The article says that the judge should conducted the trial in accordance with the law. The law does not give the parliament to conduct trials in anyway they see fit. He still said that he will conduct the trial as he wishes and that will conduct it even if there isn’t a written law” said Suood.

During today’s hearing the judge gave a 5 day period for the Chief Justice to prepare since the state of emergency ends on Thursday.
