Former President Maumoon has requested to delay his trial until his lawyer Maumoon Hameed returns to Maldives.
Maumoon sent a letter to the Criminal Court stating that the head of his legal team is Maumoon Hameed and hence he requests to delay his trial until Maumoon Hameed is back in Maldives.
Maumoon Hameed is in USA at the moment to meet US authorities to brief about the detention of Maumoon. In his letter to the Criminal Court Maumoon stated that he does not wish the trial to be conducted in the absence of Maumoon Hameed.
Maldives Police Service has already sent Maumoon's case to the PG and the PG has filed charges against Maumoon.
