Siyad Qasim's legal team have said that the document issued by the police when they arrested Siyad says that he was being arrested for accepting bribes and for trying to buy real estate from Male' with that money. However he was charged with bribing the judges to issue the verdict of 1st February.
Nooruh Salaam a member of Siyad's legal team said that police gave documents which they claim to have found from Hassan Saeed's room to Siyad for him to go through it. He said that finger print sample was taken a week after that and hence there is chance that his finger print might be on it.
PG stated that they found Siyad's finger print on the letter and did not say whether they found anyone else's finger print from it. So it sounds like it was Siyad himself who took the letter to that room as well.
If anyone else touched it then that person's finger print should be on it and they should tell that they found someone else's finger print.
Hence this shows that Hassan Saeed also did not touch this letter because PG statement does not say it did. So it is questionable to find a letter in Hassan Saeed's room with only Siyad's signature.
Previously a pistol was found in Colonel Nazim's bedroom. However the DNA of another person was found from the pistol. Colonel Nazim is still in jail regarding this pistol.
Nooruh Salaam said that the police searched Villa's Offices to find more documents related to the document they "found" in Hassan Saeed's room but they failed to find anything.
He said that he does not believe that this document is valid and that he is sure that Siyad has not done anything the police is accusing him of.
Lawyer Ali Hussain said that Siyad's only fault is being Qasim Ibrahim's son.
