Will not backout from the reform movement despite the threats by PPM : Saud
MP Saud of Villingili have said that he will not backout from the reform movement despite the threats given by PPM saying that he will be “chopped to pieces”.

He made this statement after Ibrahim Rasheed a coordinator at Youth Ministry warned him saying that he will chop Saud to pieces. Ibrahim issued this threat while speaking at a rally of PPM.

Saud said that Ibrahim Rasheed delivered the speech from a written statement, and hence PPM should take full responsibility. He said that since senior PPM officials including cabinet ministers were present at the rally he believes that the threat was issued after planning it well.

In addition he said that since police provided security at the rally even they must have heard it and hence the police should take initiative and investigate it. “If the relevant authorities do not investigate it then I will file a compliant and try to get it investigated” said Saud.

Even though there is political rivalry in the Maldives, issuing death threats to political rivals is unheard of. Saud also expressed concern because Ibrahim’s speech was broadcasted from some TV channels as well.
