MP Abdullah Riyaz’s family has requested the prosecutor general to review the Criminal Court order to detain Abdullah Riyaz till the end of his trial.
Criminal Court ordered to detain Riyaz till the end of the trial, regarding the charges against him for influencing an official of the state in executing the duty of the office. Meanwhile Riyaz has also been charged with terrorism.
Riyaz’s wife Aishath Nadha sent a letter to the PG stating that she does not see that Riyaz was detained lawfully because the case has been going on since last year.
She stated that she believes that Riyaz was detained in a hearing held without a lawyer and this detention violates the rights guaranteed by article 48 of the constitution.
