UN delegation which is visiting Maldives has met with Indian ambassador to Maldives Akhilesh Mishra.
India used to play a mediatory role in Maldivian political problems. However, India has not tried to play that role this time due to the various disputes between the Indian government and President Yameen’s government.
However Indian government has repeatedly called the government to work with the opposition to resolve the political crisis in Maldives. They have called to ensure the impartiality of the judiciary, the proper functioning of the parliament and to govern the country based on democratic principles.
India, UK, USA, EU and UN has similar line of thinking with regard to Maldives at the moment. Till now Maldives Government has shown Deaf to all International Calls.
