IPU believes that the 12 MPs should be reinstated
Inter Parliamentary Union has refused to believe that the 12 MPs can be disqualified for leaving PPM. In a resolution passed by IPU about Maldives, they stated that the government is considering them as unqualified unlawfully because there is evidence which shows that these MPs left PPM before 13th July.

IPU called to reinstate these MPs as soon as possible. In addition, the resolution says that they believe that the parliament members can enter the parliament anytime they want. IPU called the government to recall the charges made against the parliament members who tried to enter the parliament on 24th July 2017.

Speaking about the 4 parliament members that were arrested under state of emergency, IPU stated that they are worried because these MPs have been detained till the end of their trial. They also called to conduct their trails justly and swiftly. IPU also decided to send observers to monitor the trial of these members. In addition they also condemned passing of laws without the required amount of MPs present in the parliament.
