Finance Ministry has ordered former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb to pay 74 million Rufiyaa in one week.
Finance Minister Ahmed Munawwar sent a letter addressed to Ahmed Adeeb ordering to pay 74 million Rufiyaa to the state in one week.
The letter states that during Adeeb’s tenure as Tourism Minister the contract made with Galaxy Enterprise Maldives Private Limited for the leasehold rights of Nasandhura land plot was revoked instead of extending it and then it was leased to NPH investments for 50 years without charging any additional fees. The letter says that hence, this resulted the state with a loss of 74 million Rufiyaa Adeeb should pay it and it also referred to the report of Anti-Corruption Commission regarding the case.
The letter was sent to Adeeb on 28th March and the deadline to make the payment will be over by today.
Even now Adeeb is serving a 33 year jail sentence for various crimes.
