Economic Ministry have stated that they will take action against businesses which increases price of goods due to the new regulations of goods transportation.
The ministry stated that they brought the change to save Male’ from congestion and that it is not a reason for price hikes. Even though they have threatened to take action, in recent history they haven’t taken action against businesses for price hikes.
Even in the first three months of this year, there were price hikes in some goods. Price hikes were seen from necessary food items such as carrots, onions, eggs and lemons.
