JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim’s daughter Khadheeja Sana have said that his brother Siyad Qasim has been in jail for 60 days now and his only fault is being her father’s son and her father’s only “crime” is not supporting President Yameen.
This is the first time a member of Qasim’s family spoke in defense of Qasim and Siyad. She made this statement while speaking at a rally held by MDP this afternoon. During the event today, the protestors placed a billboard with pictures of 42 people who has been arrested by the current administration.
Sana said that her brother Siyad has not done anything illegal and that he will never do such a thing. She said that the whole family is sad because of this.
“Our family and everyone who knows us will testify that Siyad will not do such a thing. His only fault is being Qasim’s son and my father’s only crime is not supporting the current administration” said Sana.
She said that because her father did not support President Yameen, he was arrested and his businesses are being targeted. She said that after allowing Qasim to leave the country for medicals, the government has arrested Siyad unjustly.
She further said that any family in the Maldives might face what their family is facing today and asked everyone to stand up against the tyranny of the current administration.
