We are providing services to fishermen even though the yield is high : Adlee
MD of Mifco Adlee Ismail have said that the company is providing services to fishermen even though the yield is high in southern atolls.

He said that they bought 700 tons of fish on Saturday and 600 tons on Sunday alone. “Our capacity is 400 tons per day but we have managed it and we are buying everything from the fishermen” said Adlee.

Adlee said that the ice plants in the south are working and that they are providing ice required by the fishermen. “There are some problems with the ice plants but they are working. Ice plants create 50 tons of ice per day. So if the demand is high sometimes they might run out of stock. However ice will be available from nearby islands as well” said Adlee.

He said that they have some challenges in producing ice in Koodoo because they are buying more than their usual capacity. “If a boat has to wait too long for ice we are providing ice for free even. When we have to buy too much fish we have to use the ice plants to freeze the fish and that is the reason why that happens” said Adlee.

Adlee said that these days fishermen travel far and that is one reason why the demand for ice is high. “With the will of Allah the fish they catch are very large” said

Adlee. He said that since the yield is high in the south they have moved one of their boats in the north to the south as well.

Some fishermen complained about the challenges in getting sufficient ice and said that the yields are high only for a few days in a year.
