MP Ahmed Mahloof have said that he tweeted saying that people are being killed in Maafushi Jail, as a way to express his grievances and not to inform any one about it.
Mahloof made this statement during the hearing held today at Criminal Court. The state is charging him for lying to a state authority. Today’s hearing was a preliminary hearing. During today’s hearing Mahloof denied all charges and said that his tweet was his grievances and expressed it as a member of parliament.
However Judge Adam decided that the charges were valid. The judge gave two days for the PG lawyers to submit all related information about the case. Mahloof’s lawyers requested for 10 days to prepare, however the judge gave a week.
