Elections Commission of the Maldives had requested the Finance Ministry for 14 million Rufiyaa to conduct bi-elections in 12 constituencies.
Member of EC, Akram said that they believe that bi-elections should be held because 12 members have lost their seats once the anti-defection bill was ratified. He said that hence EC has requested for 14 million Rufiyaa to conduct the elections.
“As soon as we get the money we will announce the dates of the elections” said Akram.
