MP Ali Hussein have said that if the purpose of the Supreme Court order of 1st February was to overthrow the government, then they would have ordered to arrest President Yameen.
He made this statement while speaking to the press today about the ongoing trial of Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed.
Ali Hussein said that the verdict that is going to be issued on the Chief Justice will not be a verdict on him alone but it will be a verdict on the whole system and the people cannot just watch and let it happen.
He said that today, the government is changing and removed judges who do not issue orders as the government wished and hence the impartiality of the judiciary is lost. He said that the courts are conducting the trials of the people arrested after 1st February in a questionable manner.
He said that it obstructs the rights of those accused when the trials are conducted in a hurried manner. He said that the PG should also try to solve this problem.
