Judgement day is yet to come'

Upon hearing the verdict by Criminal Court, Chief Justice responded by stating to the Judge that ' Judgement day is yet to come' and 'the verdict has awarded me the status of a 'Martyr'. He said this to media and public members who were allowed to be present at the hearing.

Looking into the history of proceedings by the courts in Maldives, unfair trails and convictions are taking place and especially since 2015 it has escalated.

Madduvaree MP Mohamed Ameeth highlighted that complaints regarding unfair precedents are increasing and since 2015 it has escalated he also said that this is one of the biggest concerns among the general public.

It is observed that after unfair precedents Judges do travel to Mecca to perform Hajj. It has become a trend and if not done on their own they are funded by government and sent to perform Hajj.

Religious scholars say that even if someone performs Hajj over and over again, until and unless the victim herself or himself pardons the wrong doer, specially sins regarding unfair trials would not be pardoned by Allah SWT. And if these sins not pardoned in this life by the victim, then the wrong doer has to pay for it on Judgement day where he/ she would have to repay from his or her own good deeds. If no good deeds are there to repay, then the wrongdoer has to take the full burden of sins of the victim.
