Kebangsaan University of Malaysia has signed an agreement with health ministry of Maldives. Under the agreement Maldivian students will get placement at the university to study medicine.
Speaking at the ceremony held to sign the agreement, the health minister said that the biggest challenge for Maldives right now is lack of trained Maldivian doctors.
“We can say that now Maldivians do not get the placement to study medicine in India and Sri Lanka maybe because there is a huge demand in these countries. Under this agreement Maldivians can study MBBS in Malaysia and other higher educational opportunities. Also this will help us to run the medical college of Maldives” said Nazim.
In addition Nazim said that Kebangsaan University will conduct trainings for staffs of IGMH as well.
Nazim said that the government gives lot of important to train people and that the government has provided 50 Maldivians the opportunity to study medicine and some of them are now serving in Maldives.
