Maldivian parliament has barred Maldivians with dual citizenships from contesting in presidential elections for 10 years even after renouncing the foreign citizenship.
PG leader of PPM, Ahmed Nihan submitted an amendment to the electoral laws and 34 members present in the parliament chamber voted to amend the law.
While submitting the amendment Nihan said that the amendment was important to safe guard the sovereignty and independence of Maldives.
