Faaris Maumoon, the MP for Dhiggaru constituency who was sentenced to 1 year and 24 months in jail for identity fraud has appealed the case at High Court of the Maldives.
His lawyers confirmed that they have appealed the case. Even though he was sentenced to jail he did not lose his parliament seat.
The state is also charging Faaris for terrorism and corruption as well. Trials of both the cases are going on.
