The Attorney General Mohammed Anil has instructed relevant State and Government Institutions to provide equal opportunity for all Presidential Candidates and their respective running mates ahead of the upcoming Presidential Elections in an effort to ensure free, fair, transparent and successful Election in September.

In a statement issued by the Attorney General’s Office today, the Attorney General’s Office reveals this was done in separate letters sent to four state and government institutions; Ministry of Housing and infrastructure, Ministry of Home Affairs, Maldives Police Service and Public Media Service (PSM), instructing them to guarantee equal opportunity for all candidates. Additionally, the Public Service media (PSM) was asked to allow equal airtime and coverage to candidates and Maldives Police Service was asked to ensure full security and protection to them. The Attorney General also instructed Ministry of Housing and infrastructure to provide equal access to the state owned properties and lands in accordance with the law.
