Maldives Police Service has, stated that they are investigating an incident of obstruction of campaign activities against Maldivian Democratic Party’s nominated Presidential candidate Mr Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in Hulhumale’ on Tuesday afternoon.
The Government of the Maldives condemns the attempted obstruction of campaign activities. The Government takes this matter very seriously and notes that the Attorney General has instructed security be provided to the nominated candidates by the relevant authorities and appeals all parties to conduct themselves in a manner which will allow and facilitiate an independent, free, fair, transparent and successful election this year.
