The government should have nothing more important than ensuring eligible voters are able to vote : Dr.Hussein
Deputy Leader of JP Dr.Hussein Rasheed said that the government should not have anything more important than ensuring that the eligible voters can vote in this year’s election.

Speaking to the press, Dr.Hussein said that the election was forced to increase the number of ballot boxes in resorts, due to the work done by the opposition.

Dr.Hussein said that in the past, if there were 50 people registered at a resort, then ballot boxes were kept there and that it is the duty of the government to facilitate people to vote. He said that the government is making people sign blank forms to re-register them to boxes in the atolls so that they cannot vote.

Speaking at the press conference the opposition said that the Elections Commission is lying saying that they are following international best practices. They said that some of the decisions made by the EC are against some of the conventions signed by Maldives.
