The opposition candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, Ibrahim Mohammed Solih have said that he will reform Maldives Inland Revenue Authority. He said that MIRA conduct their activities through a specific legislation.
Speaking to the people of B.Atoll Ibu said that he will reform Mira in a way that it operates through strict regulations.
Ibu said that small businesses are going bankrupt because MIRA enforces unfair collection practices. He said that with the will of Allah, the coalition government will reform taxation laws and that MIRA cannot tax people as they wish.
“Small and medium enterprises are going bankrupt as a result of MIRA’s practices” said Ibu.
In addition Ibu said that he will open some of the businesses conducted by STO to the private sector.
