Maldives has won SAFF Suzuki Championship today. This is the largest football tournament in the region.
This is the second time Maldives won this tournament. Maldives won 2-1 against India in the finals. Maldives won the tournament in 2008 as well.
Maldives did not win a single match during the group stage and advanced to the semi finals via a coin toss. The national team received criticism for the poor performance in the group stages.
However, the team won against Nepal in the semi finals with a score of 3 to nil.
