Government of Japan has issued a press statement congratulating President-elect Ibrahim Mohammed Solih.
The statement admired Maldivians and Maldivian authorities for holding a peaceful election and noted that the high voter turn out shows the strong support Maldivians have for the democratic process.
The government of Japan stated that they wished the new government to be inaugurated smoothly. In addition the statement says that the government of Japan wishes to work with the new administration to strengthen bilateral ties and work together to address regional and global issues.
