Leader of JP, and the kingmaker in the past three presidential elections held in Maldives, Qasim Ibrahim has revealed that he plans to return to Maldives on next Wednesday.
Speaking to VTV’s Fasmanzaru program from Germany, Qasim said that with the will of Allah he will be in Velana International Airport at 3:00 pm on next Wednesday.
He revealed this after the High Court ordered to free Qasim on bail. Qasim said that with him, JP’s President Ali Waheed, his political advisor Dr.Mohammed Jameel, and member of JP Dr.Shaah Mahir will also return to Maldives. In addition, Qasim said that his sons Mohamed and Ismail who are with him right now will also return to Maldives with him.
Qasim thanked the people of Maldives for the determination they showed on the 23rd September vote. In addition he thanked the Elections Commission, MNDF, Police and the joint opposition for the work they did.
Speaking about the court order which freed him today, Qasim said that there will be ups and down for people in the reform movement. He said that those who work for freedom will always face such problems and difficulties.
“I faced what I faced in that regard. With the results we got today, we see that the people of Maldives got a democratic life. We can see that justice is being attained. It is evident that some investigations, court verdicts, and many other things happened due to the undue influence of somebody” said Qasim.
