The state agrees that there were irregularities in the identity theft trial of Faaris Maumoon
State prosecutors have agreed that there were various irregularities in the identity theft trial of Faaris Maumoon. They agreed that the trial was rushed, and he was not given adequate time to defend himself.

The PG lawyers made this statement while speaking at the second appeal hearing at the High Court. In the first hearing held yesterday, to appeal the 4 months and 24 days verdict, the court freed him on bail.

Faaris is being charged with identity theft for using PPM logo and flag without the permission of the party. In today’s hearing the PG lawyers agreed that some of the witnesses who testified against Faaris lies.

However, they said that the witnesses lied due to the pressure from Faaris’s defense team and that they never declined to provide enough time for Faaris to prepare for the case. Answering to the PG lawyers, Maumoon Hameed the head of Faaris Maumoon’s legal team said that he is happy that the PG lawyers agreed that they have committed errors on their part and based on that confession alone, the guilty verdict on Faaris will be invalid.
