Former President Maumoon have called President Yameen to respect the decision made by the people on 23rd September and to accept defeat with a smile.
Speaking to the press after meeting President-elect, President Maumoon said that the decision made by the people is very clear and that it should be implemented. He said that the coalition is not ready to give up on this.
“It is a must to implement the collective will of the people. It is the current president’s duty as well. Also it is the duty of the security services. The police and the MNDF should also implement the will of the people. All of us are serving the people” said the former president.
President Maumoon also spoke about his defeat in 2008. He said that when he got 46% in the preliminary results, his aides asked him to demand a recount. He said that he did not agree to that because the country will plunge into chaos.
