Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom have said that he is still the legitimate president of PPM, elected by members of PPM.
Speaking to the press after meeting the vice president-elect Faisal Naseem, President Maumoon said that since some of the cases related to PPM are in court, he does not know how it will end.
“The election which was held by PPM recently is not valid. The congress can be held with representatives from different branches of the party. If anything contrary to this was done, it will be considered invalid” said President Maumoon.
PPM held an extraordinary congress last Friday and President Yameen was elected as the president of the party. Votes were casted by raising hands.
