Founder of JP, Qasim Ibrahim have said that he will return to Maldives on Thursday. He will return at 2:00 pm.
He was previously scheduled to arrive on Wednesday however, since he was living in Germany under political asylum, he had to finish some legal proceedings before he could leave.
Qasim was sentenced to 3 years 2 months and 12 days in absentia by the criminal court. Qasim was admitted at the Hospital when the Criminal Court issued the verdict. Since the court ordered to facilitate Qasim to leave the country for medicals, the government sent him abroad on 6th September.
Qasim was seeking treatment from Singapore and the government tried to bring him back. However, he left for Germany to complete his treatment. When President Yameen’s government could not imprison Qasim Ibrahim, the authorities arrested his son Siyad Qasim and kept him locked up till July of this year.
Just last week, the High Court freed Qasim on bail after he appealed the case at the high court. The court held a hearing of the case after more than a year since it was appealed.
Qasim to return to Maldives tomorrow !
