Former President Maumoon’s appeal hearing at the High Court scheduled for today has been cancelled because his lawyers did not receive the case report from the Criminal Court.
Speaking at the hearing today, Maumoon’s lawyers said that, for the hearing to proceed, the Criminal Court’s report is very important. After listening to the lawyers, the bench of the High Court stated that the reports have not been submitted because the lawyers have not yet signed the statements. Maumoon’s lawyers stated that they signed the statements and even if it wasn’t, according the regulations it should not be a problem.
High Court stated that they will take the necessary actions if Maumoon’s lawyers do not receive the report. The court ended today’s hearing after announcing that a hearing will be held next week.
