Leader of Jumhoory Party, Qasim Ibrahim have said that the people of Maldives will not have be to be disappointed with President-elect Ibrahim Mohammed Solih and that he will govern the country in a way the people wants.
Speaking to the media after former Vice President Dr.Jameel arrived in the Maldives today, Qasim said that the people are not like how they were 10 years ago. He said that the people want a just ruler. He said the people wants a disciplined ruler. In addition he said that the people wants a ruler who will make the best use of the people’s money.
Qasim said that he does not believe that it was a coincidence that everyone who helped to President Yameen win in 2013 got treated in an oppressive manner. He said that if even one person is denied justice, it is the job of the president to ensure that, that person is taken care of.
In addition he said that, even if someone is denied justice through the judiciary, there are ways the president can help a person even without interfering in the judiciary. He noted the case of former Defense Minister retired Colonel Nazim in this regard. “Even in Islam, if someone is being oppressed, that person should be saved” said Qasim.
Qasim Ibrahim said that even the statements made by President Yameen regarding the Supreme Court verdict of 1st February is proof of this. He said that the problem is that President Yameen only knows how to solve some cases.
