There is no evidence that could invalidate the results of the election : Shareef
President of the Elections Commission have said that the commission did not receive any evidence that could result in invalidating the results of the elections. He requested to submit proof of vote rigging if anyone has such evidence.

Speaking about the ongoing protests by ruling party PPM, Shareef said that, that is not how things should be done. He said that he hasn’t seen people complaining and questioning the results of the election.

He said that if the commission gets a complaint regarding the election, they will investigate it. Shareef said that instead of protesting to annul the election, they should try to solve it through existing mechanisms such as through the court. He said that the members of the commission will fulfil their responsibility.

He said that if the case is submitted to the court, the commission will be ready to answer. In addition Shareef said that both foreign and local observers, media, and the people have accepted the election was free and fair. Furthermore Shareef denied the allegations of opening up ballot boxes and envelopes. He said that those things are sealed and guarded by the police.

Except the president of EC, the remaining members of EC has left the country. He said that even though they are abroad they can be reached via phone.

The official results of the election shows that Ibrahim Mohammed Solih got 134,704 votes and President Yameen got 96,052 votes.
