MP Abdullah Riyaz have said that the 12 MPs who were disqualified by the Elections Commission will be reinstated.
Riyaz said that the Supreme Court verdict today reinstating MP Waheed’s seat shows that what President Yameen did through the EC to disqualify 12 MPs is a state sponsored crime. He said that, it should be investigated as it is a crime.
Abdullah Riyaz said that the opposition has now got the majority of the parliament and the best course of action for the speaker of the parliament would be to resign. He said that if Maseeh do not resign, they will try to remove him from the position.
“He still has the time to resign. That is the best thing to do. We urge the security services not to obey the unlawful orders of the government and to allow parliament members to work freely” said Riyaz.
In addition, Abdullah Riyaz said that since it has been revealed that Speaker Maseeh had a role in disqualifying the 12 members, the speaker should resign.
